Burj Khalifa - Dubai, U.A.E.
Garvin M. O’Brien • President of SPDM's Hi-Rise Construction Group, spent nearly 8 years working as Senior Project Manager for Emaar Properties PJSC - Dubai, U.A.E. where he oversaw the construction of the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world at 828 meters). The $1.6 billion project consisted of 160 floors, Armani Hotel, Restaurants, Retail, Back of House, and Corporate Offices. Additionally, he led a $285 million improvements project that included Observatories on levels 125 & 148 of the Tower.

Wilfried Taubert, AIA • President of SPDM's Architectural Group, was the Manager of Planning and Architecture for the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, when it underwent a major renovation/revitalization costing $104 million dollars. He was responsible for the master planning, architecture and construction administration for the facility and exhibit improvements for a ground-up revitalization which included bringing a Boeing 727 through a nineteenth-century classical facade and structural modifications to a bearing wall pavilion to accommodate a new exhibit on naval technology.

Charles H. Thornton, Ph.D., P.E., Hon. ASCE, Hon. AIA, NAE is SPDM’s Structural Engineering Partner. Dr. Thornton is one of the preeminent structural engineers and educators in the world; Founding Principle and Co-Chairman of Thornton Tomasetti until 2004, Dr. Thornton’s forty four years plus of experience has included his involvement in the design and construction of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of projects in the U.S. and overseas. He is also the Founder of TGE Top Down, LLC which is focused on his TGE Top Down building process. This innovative construction system encompasses all foundation, cores, floor, and envelope structures. The system works across Programming, Estimating, Designing, Procuring, Supplying, Constructing, and Operating environments. It is fully integratable with any 6D BIM program.
