Osbourne Kenneth Sims III

Mr. Sims 38 years as an Architect, Construction Manager and  Developer has given him a keen eye for and a deep understanding of the luxury real estate market.  Having been Chief Architect and Space Facilities Officer, for the Midwest Region of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), early in his career, Mr. Sims has an intimate knowledge of government contracts and procedures.  Since founding Sims Properties Development & Management, Inc. in July of 1987, Mr. Sims was the first Black Developer to design, develop, build and sell Luxury Townhomes in the South Loop, of Chicago and has led in the Design, Development, Construction Management and Sales teams, on more than 30 distinct properties, in the Greater Chicago area.  One such development was the PRM Luxury Condominium Homes of Hyde Park, in Chicago, IL. The 3 Building, 78 unit, 90,172 sq. ft. development, which consisted of 1-to-5-bedroom flats, duplexed and tri-plexed luxury condominiums cost $10,565,040 to build and sold for $20,030,790. Sims Properties Development & Management, Inc. provided end-to-end control including consultant developer services, overall project management, design, sales and marketing, quality control and project delivery. In addition to personally leading the development from end-to-end.  Along with several similar projects in the $10 - $20 million range, Mr. Sims has prepared complete development packages for 6 major properties with completed valuations between $500 million and $1.2 billion each and is actively expanding Nationally and Globally its brand.  It is his life’s mission to improve human being’s physical environment by creating sustainable, "Iconic Landmark" buildings with near net zero energy and low carbon footprint design environments.

Mr. Sims completed four and one-half years (combined) of architectural design studies between the UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS - Chicago, with his Thesis Study at the UNIVERSITY OF VERSAILLES, Versailles, France.

Garvin M. O’Brien

President • SPDM High Rise Construction Group

In more than thirty years in the construction industry, Mr. O’Brien has been involved in residential and commercial construction, cruise ship refurbishment, site management, purchasing, project management, and infrastructure improvement. The highlight of his career was the nearly 8 years spent working as Senior Project Manager for Emaar Properties PJSC - Dubai, U.A.E. where he oversaw the construction of the Burj Khalifa Tower (the tallest building in the world at 828 meters). The $1.6 billion  project consisted of 160 floors, Armani Hotel, Restaurants, Retail, Back of House, and Corporate Offices; along with The Address Boulevard Hotel, the $285 million development and the 2nd tallest hotel in Dubai and the world.  Additionally, he has led the multi-million improvement projects, that included the Burj Khalifa Observatories on levels 125 & 148, of the Tower.  Mr. O’Brien’s responsibilities included design, scheduling and execution coordination between all consultants, contractors, local authorities, and quantity survey. He ensured performance of duties in accordance with contracts for completion within the completion dates, budget, quality, and safety requirements.

Mr. O’Brien has completed multiple certificates at Harper Reiney College, Palatine, Illinois and Palomar College, San Marcos, California.

Wilfried Taubert, AIA

In the span of a forty-three-year career, Mr. Taubert has participated in the entire spectrum of the architectural profession, including city planning, urban design, architecture, contract interiors, facility management, expert witness, and owner representation services. He has held principal positions in design and management both as a client and service provider. One of the highlights of his career was his time working as the Manager of Planning and Architecture for the MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY, Chicago, Illinois. There he was responsible for the master planning, architecture and construction administration for facility and exhibit improvements for a ground-up revitalization of a venerated sixty -year-old institution residing in a hundred-year-old building. Including a 1,500 car 25,000 sq. ft. underground connecting link the museum, including a new landscaped park, new entrance from the connecting link, including mechanical and electrical installations to update existing engineered systems, new fire detection and sprinkler system with a new vertical transportation system.  Restoration and replacement of exterior copper, clay tile, terra cotta, limestone, granite, and bronze elements of a historic one hundred-year-old Beaux Arts building, which is a Chicago Architectural Landmark, and various exhibit projects requiring major construction, such as bringing a Boeing 727 through a nineteenth-century classical facade and structural modifications to a bearing wall pavilion, to accommodate a new exhibit on naval technology. Total combined Project Cost $104 million dollars.

An expert in enterprise-wide systems integration gained from his years of experience partnering with SAP, Mr. Boxx brings a strong knowledge of how all the parts of an organization need to work together for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Mr. Boxx also brings deep knowledge of financial budgeting, cash management, financial reporting, and investment performance measurement having invested internal fixed income portfolios for the former Ameritech pension fund ($1.1 billion) while there.

Cynthia M. Sims, Ph.D.

Ms. Sims brings a wealth of Human Resources experience to SPDM gained both as a practitioner and a Tenured Faculty Member.  Early in her career, she was Sr. Training Manager at Arthur Andersen Worldwide. Later she held several Director level positions in Human Resources (including Director, Office of Human Resources) at Nationwide Insurance Company. Most recently she worked as Associate Professor, Human Resource Development, Educational and Organizational Leadership Development, at Clemson University. Ms. Sims is widely published in Scholarly Journals even winning the Emerald Literati Award in 2019 for a paper researching women business owners published in Gender in Management: An International Journal.

Scott M. Siegel

Mr. Siegel is a highly effective operating executive in the real estate sales, management and development industries with deep experience in the Chicago marketplace. Scott has very strong consultative sales approach and consensus building skills. During his career, he has had the opportunity to oversee all day-to-day real estate operations for several companies.
